Canada Wins Curling Gold

The Canadian women have won curling gold at the 2008 World Championships held in Vernon, British Columbia. Jennifer Jones lead her team to victory over Bingyu Wang and her squad.

The foursome (or 'rink' as it's referred to in curling lingo) from Winnipeg managed to beat the team from China in the 10 end. The final score was 7-4.

The World Curling Federation together with VANOC recently decided that Dave Merklinger, of Vernon, BC and Hans Wuthrich, of Gimli, MB will be tasked to make the ice for the curling events of the 2010 Winter Olympics at the Nat Bailey Stadium Park.
