The area opposite the Urban Fare in Vancouver's Yaletown is most often a barren, urban wasteland despite it's rich history as the areas hub where trains would be turned in the direction they needed to go next.
The site is currently home to a community centre, but is most often void of activity and could sometimes be mistaken for a trash receptacle.
That's all about to change as the City of Vancouver has announced plans to reinvigorate the public space by improving the plaza with performance space that can hold 500-750 people for everything from plays to concerts to public markets.
The venues facelift may yet end of being a legacy project of VANOC as they may donate part or even all of the funds required for the renovation.
The design for the space has been created by Nick Milkovich Architects and Phillips Farevaag Smallenberg landscape consultants.
